#because he’s got to stay with erik hasn’t he? #and maybe a rebellion is the key after all #but gale and erik are planning atrocities that katniss would never stand for #and one day erik tries to put prim in harm’s way #and gale backs him up #charles is done #”any partnership we had; any love we had; any RELATIONSHIP we had is over” he says to erik #and of course erik acts like he doesn’t care #because the capitol is nearly theirs #now the nation is in disarray #and charles knows someone has to fill the power vacuum and it can’t be erik #which is where peeta comes in #because erik’s effective but he’s scary as fuck #and peeta can make these thrilling stirring speeches that move the people to their side #and they take the capitol #charles’ rebellion not erik’s rebellion #but erik’s got gale and some ex-careers-in-training and a few other loyal followers #and he thinks charles being in power is ”unconscionable” #charles gives him district 13 and he takes it #but he comes back again and again to clash with charles’ new government #katniss sees gale at his left hand every time #and doesn’t know how to feel #because she’s been married to peeta for years now #the mockingjay and the man who inspired panem #a perfect face of a perfect couple #and she loves him she does #but she remembers what it was like #letting erik whisper into her ear #holding hands with gale as they sat with him by the fire #and she wonders if it was worth it #then she looks at her daughter Primrose and she knows that it was #but if she shuts her eyes a little too tightly that night when she’s kissing peeta who can blame her?
